Opening Doors

One of the greatest joys of campus ministry is the opportunity to reach people who might never step into a church. Here is an encouraging story from one of our UCM student leaders:

I have a dark past. But God found me in this darkness and didn’t give up on me. He poured His love out on me and I am now a UCM leader on my campus. Not only did God heal and restore me, he has used my story to reach others. I gave my testimony at a club meeting, how God brought me back to Him. One of my classmates, Josh, came to this meeting. He had never been to church before and grew up in an atheist home. He was able to relate to my story – our childhoods had some striking similarities. He realized that there was something different about me – that despite the troubles of my past, I was at peace. John asked me how he could feel this peace as well. Over the past three weeks, Josh has come to every club meeting. He has come to our weekly Bible studies. He and I have been meeting one-on-one every Friday. He hasn’t taken that final step to give his life to Christ, but he is praying that God will show him the way. He has such a thirst for truth and I feel so honored and humbled that God would use me to bring light into his life. "

Please join us in praying for all of our UCM students. Christian students have a unique opportunity to engage with seekers in a safe space. And if you are a seeker yourself, we encourage you that UCM is a place where there are many people open to real relationships and to walking with you as you explore spiritual questions.

The Season for Spiritual Friendships

October brings crisp air and colourful nature all around us. This is also the season when many UCM students engage in spiritual friendships. Spiritual friendships have always been a high value in our UCM culture. What does that look like?

As Jesus’ workers on campuses, we are inspired to see how Jesus invested the majority of his time investing in 12 disciples, who he equipped and empowered for ministry, but not without first entering into genuine friendship with them. Campus workers across B.C. meet with students and invite them to share their life and faith journey with them, and in turn help them to learn to listen to the call of Jesus in their life. Flowing out of that, many students themselves have found this to be crucial in their faith journey, that they have extended this same invitation to their UCM friends and classmates who may be interested in faith.

If you believe in ministry based in real relationships, consider joining us on your campus. We’d love to connect with you. Fill in our contact card: www.joinucm.org

Welcome Back, Students!

Another summer is coming to an end, and bringing with it a return to the fall season. For many of you, that means learning where your new classes are, buying textbooks, and hopefully… reconnecting with your UCM community.

Summer can be a time of refreshing and reconnecting. It can also be a difficult time spiritually when we are out of our routine and miss some of our regular connections. Wherever you are at, we want to welcome you back. Come say hi at your group’s opening events and sign-up tables, and even consider helping us welcome new people.

If you're entering university for the very first time, welcome to UCM! Please let us encourage you that joining a community of faith at the start of your time on campus is one of the best choices you can make. Being connected to a faith community provides friendship and spiritual guidance during a time of significant transition, wherever you are on your faith journey when you start. Please fill out the contact card on joinucm.org to connect with your campus group.

Introducing UCM!

We are excited about our rebrand! University Christian Ministries (UCM) is now our legal business name which consolidates and clarifies who we are.  We have been known throughout the years as BC Campus Ministries and various club names which ultimately led to confusion among many.  We felt it was time to refocus and refresh our vision, mission and values. Yet, the name above all names (Jesus) is the one who really matters. We have experienced His blessing through the decades even with all our micro brands!

So, we are excited about starting a new chapter as we take our vision to a new level for serving and equipping tomorrow's leaders on campuses today.
