From 8 to 14 Leaders: A Year of Growth at UFV
I spent March 13β14 in Abbotsford with our UCM team at the University of the Fraser Valley for their annual Leaders Trainingβand it was a meaningful and momentum-building couple of days.
We kicked things off Friday night by gathering both outgoing and incoming student leaders and inviting them to share stories of the people who led them to faith and modelled the way of Jesus in their lives β¨. It was a powerful way to begin!
From there, I had the opportunity to revisit the vision and mission of UCM ππ―, helping anchor the team while also challenging them to grow their outreach muscles πͺ in the year ahead.
Saturday focused on discerning a ministry plan for next year π§. We began with worship πΆ, prayer π, and Scripture π before reflecting on insights from their recent Vision & AGM Night. Together, we sought to listen carefully to where God is leading this community next.
One of the most encouraging developments is the growth of the leadership teamβfrom 8 to 14 student leaders stepping into roles for the coming year π. There is a clear sense of momentum.
We also discerned a clear invitation to strengthen hospitality π€βespecially for new and exploring studentsβby building out a dedicated Welcome Crew to help create a strong culture of invitation and belonging.
Iβm so grateful for this team and expectant for what God will do through them in the year ahead.

Who Will Say βYesβ to
Campus Ministry? ππ
β On March 17, I made a quick return trip to Abbotsford to speak at Summit Pacific College during their monthly missions info session.
It was a privilege to share with around 20 Bible college students who are actively discerning their calling and future ministry direction β¨. I spoke about the urgent need for campus ministry across British Columbiaβand the opportunity to step into this space not just as church leaders, but as missionaries sent to the campus π±.
My hope was simple: to plant seeds early πΏ. Many of these students are in their first, second, or third year, and now is the time to begin praying π about where God may be leading them. We need leaders who are theologically grounded π, pastorally formed π«Ά, and who carry a deep sense of calling π₯ to reach the next generation.
I was especially encouraged by the thoughtful questions and meaningful conversations π¬ that followed. There is a hunger among these students to explore what it could look like to say βyesβ to this kind of mission.
Would you join me in praying for them π? Pray that God would guide their discernmentβand that some would be called to serve in campus ministry with UCM in the years ahead.

π Prayer Requests
π§βπ€βπ§ UFV Student Leaders β Give thanks for a growing leadership team at UFV, now expanding from 8 to 14 student leaders! Pray that God would continue to strengthen their faith, inspire their creativity in outreach, and help them build a welcoming community for all students. Ask Him to guide their planning for the year ahead and equip them to lead with courage, wisdom, and humility.
π± New Apprentices & Assistant β Praise God for our 2026β2027 UCM apprenticeship cohort, and for Kyler McAlister serving as the new Campus Ministry Assistant at UFV! Give thanks that they have completed 4 of 6 weeks of support-raising training. Pray for them as they head into exams this month, that God would give them focus, stamina, and wisdom. Ask Him to prepare their hearts and resources so they are ready to step fully into the apprenticeship by the end of the month.
π Bible College Students Considering Campus Ministry β Praise God for the opportunity to plant seeds among Summit Pacific College students about the call to campus ministry. Pray that these students would sense Godβs leading in their lives, grow in theological and pastoral formation, and be encouraged to step into mission on campus when the time comes. Ask God to raise up faithful, passionate leaders for the next generation.
